Coach Thom (pronounced “Tom”) first discovered CrossFit in 2011. He was initially skeptical of its effectiveness coming from a conventional globo-gym background, but in early 2012, he gave it a shot and found that it was the missing piece to the monotony that can come with working out and never looked back. In 2013, he trained with an understudy of Olympic Weightlifter Jon North and learned the methodology of Olympic lifting.
Upon returning from deployment in May 2014, Coach Thom found himself under the instruction and guidance of Coach Ace. Within six short months he realized that he wanted to be able to give back to the CrossFit community and share everything that he had learned up to that point. He obtained his Level 1 certification and began coaching at Mighty CrossFit.
On a subsequent deployment, Coach Thom had the opportunity to coach at the newly opened CrossFit Subic Bay in the Philippines. This experience cultivated new knowledge in training people new to CrossFit. Coach Thom thoroughly enjoys coaching, isolating discrepancies and helping athletes correcting those discrepancies, and building confidence in their training. To him, there is nothing more satisfying than helping people overcome obstacles.
